Can high performance be defined just through numbers? No way. Sounds, vibrations, gear shift response and the adrenaline. High performance is all about the emotion, the direct connection between driver and car. At first, we struggled to fill the void. That so-called lack of driving emotion behind the wheel of many EVs. Our mission was to deliver precise driver control and an interactive driving experience.

N Active Sound+. We started with sound. Sound, the most instinctive and straightforward feedback a car can give its driver. Using intelligent software with sound, we wanted to find the new voice of high performance EV, and then make drivers to fully immerse themselves in the joy of driving. We started with the raw emotions of a combustion engine and then headed into a completely new direction, exclusively for high performance EV.

Well, to be honest, we wanted to take it even further. Racking our heads, adding childhood imaginations, we even found inspiration from a twin-engine fighter jet. Experience the full spectrum of sounds and aspirations right here inside the IONIQ 5 N.

Now that we have the underlying tune, it’s time to add the rhythm and beat. It’s always the movement and sound together that enhances the driving experience. That raw and shocking responsiveness that sends chills down our spine. We wanted to recreate that feeling in the IONIQ 5 N.

N e-Shift. To provide a sense of control over power delivery, we simulated a gear shift by controlling motor torque output. Imagine what we’ve gone through, controlling that enormous amount of output and breaking it down into detailed levels to ensure precise handling. But it was all worth it. Not only do we optimize driving precision by adding direct torque control, but we also enhanced driving fun.
