Of course, we asked ourselves these questions when we first began. N’S approach has never been about just blindly increasing power. Regardless of what powers the vehicle, Nthusiasts should be able to enjoy the fierce, yet confident cornering abilities of an N model. As much as we are confident, it was an uphill battle with mountains to climb.

N Pedal

The first hurdle was the weight factor. The heavier the car, the harder it becomes for the driver in high-speed corners. We needed a solution to maintain control of the weight while enhancing agility. Because confidence in cornering is critical for high performance. We developed the N Pedal, based off a typical EV’s regenerative braking technology. Reinterpreting the system to enable more aggressive weight transfer and instant throttle response. Resulting in sharper corner entry and immediate corner exits. Drivers can expect acute control and response with just this N pedal.

The second challenge was bringing the cornering behavior of a WRC car to the roads. Just like our championship-winning WRC cars, the IONIQ 5 N is N’s first four-wheel drive. With the IONIQ 5 N, we wanted to offer complete control for the driver. N Torque Distribution offers fully variable front and rear torque distribution through powerful motors on each axle.

The driver can create a customized setting optimized for the ultimate cornering performance under any environment. Choose your setting and enjoy WRC-inspired handling.
